OK so not knowing a whole heck of a lot about car engines I figured I would take a few pictures of what's under the hood. If someone much more knowledgeable about cars can tell me what type of engine we have here that would be great. From what I can see it looks to be in great shape for a 1982 model Trans Am. Looks like it needs a bit of a cleaning to me but hey... what do I know lol ;)
You can count the spark plug wires and that will tell you if it is a 4/6/or 8. You can also call any Pontiac dealership and give them the vin number, they can tell you what it is.

DeleteI looked it up on line, the 1982 Trans Am uses a Chevy small-block V8 engine.
DeleteYup it's a V8, I finally just looked at the amount of spark plugs, 4 each side so that means it's a V8 :)
DeleteI have an 82 myself, and it most likely would be a 305 LG4 if the 8th digit on your VIN tag is an "H" it is a LG4
